![]() Here’s a list of recent or soon-to-be-released novels that reshape how we think about queerness in YA and expand our understanding of pride. It’s becoming more possible for queer readers of all ages to see themselves represented as full people instead of fragments. I came out in college, bookshelves were brimming with more young-adult books that included LGBTQ characters, and now there are more books than ever. I would be fine if I became queer-just like the characters in those books. ![]() Bookish Veronica Lopez and vapid Heather. Papademetriou (M or F with Chris Tebbetts) sends up both teen chick lit and high fantasy in this comical page-turner. While I can now see the flaws in these books, they’re still part of my personal queer canon. views 3,245,631 updated Papademetriou, Lisa (Edgar Greene, Jasmine Jones, Tyche) Personal Born in Houston, TX married. Luckily, my local library kept the teen section well-stocked with stories about LGBTQ teenagers: Lisa Papademetriou’s 2006 book, M or F?, featured a gay male character and Ellen Wittlinger’s 2001 book, Hard Love and her 2008 follow-up Love & Lies: Marisol’s Story, are the first books I read that featured an out-and-proud lesbian character. ![]() ![]() The first book, Life As We Knew It, is written in diary form by teen-aged Miranda. It’s all very cheerful as you can imagine. Enough closer that the tides are thrown completely off, the seasons change dramatically, and earthquakes, hurricanes, tidal waves, and volcanoes ravage many parts of the world. The very short synopsis is that the moon is hit by a very large asteroid and is knocked closer to the earth. ![]() This series would fall into that category, but it’s different because, unlike the three books I just mentioned, you see the recognizable world fall apart, rather than just the aftermath and rebuilt society. I have mentioned before that I really love dystopian books (ones like The Hunger Games or Uglies or The Giver where something has completely changed the face of the world (war, disease, etc) and an alternate kind of society has sprung up). And you won’t forget it either – the characters and the storyline are so real and so memorable, without being over the top. 8 of 10: This YA trilogy, Life As We Knew It, is about the world being significantly altered by an asteroid hitting the moon is a little bit like watching a train wreck it’s horrific, but you can’t look away. ![]() ![]() Plain panels/scenes must create discourse Use and Google Images to find the source.Fanart/cosplay must directly link to the source Please put the chapter number in your title until the Official release is out.ģ.Please use the button labeled spoiler or put the word "spoilers" somewhere in the title for posts with spoilers in them.Do not leak spoilers outside of the thread for chapter spoilers.Use spoiler tags for anything that hasn't been revealed in the anime yet.Talk about hints aren't allowed, please wait until the spoilers have been release to talk the content of an unreleased chapterĮxclude Fanart Exclude Cosplay Exclude Merchandise Exclude Media Exclude 4 Above Exclude Help Exclude Misc Exclude 2 Above Exclude Discussion Exclude Theory Exclude Analysis Exclude 3 Above Rules Full documentation > ![]() Spoilers release around 11 pm GMT/UTC on Monday. ![]() ![]() ![]() Closer up, the black moustachial markings below the beak become more apparent, as does the finely speckled black and white crest which can be raised and lowered as a means of communication.
